4 Picture Perfect Prom Hairstyles

Hey, you! Prom season is here! You’ve got the perfect dress, the flawless makeup look you want to go for. However, your hair could make or break your prom slay, but we’ve got you covered. Prom is a time to celebrate with friends. It's the one time you can go all out and be as extra as possible without anyone feeling any type of way.

Prom hair for a black girl can range from anything: trendy, retro, romantic, cute or classic and can include natural hair, wigs or weaves. It is important that your hair compliments your dress and makeup to give the overall red carpet look. Check out some of the party hairstyles we're feeling this year. Whether you're going to Prom, End of year ball or just a party these looks will have you looking on point all night long.

Curls, Curls, Curls
Whether they’re tight, loose, bouncy or feathered, curls are a classic hairstyle that you could never go wrong with. This style can easily be done with a body wave wig or a sew in. Simply part your hair into the middle or at the side. Use a heat protectant to start, and curl small chunks of hair for tighter curls, or bigger chunks for loose curls.

To achieve tighter curls, we recommended using a thinner curling wand. For bigger curls, use a large barrelled curling wand. Continue until your whole head is curled and use a holding spray to keep it in place. Use ASC bobby pins to pin hair to the side for extra security.
Use pin curl clips to achieve a retro pin curl look or use to simply hold the curls in place for the night!

The Ponytail
You can never go wrong with a simple, sleek ponytail. Spice it up by adding some braids to your crown or some curls to add extra va va voom to the look. For extra glam, why not add gold or rose gold Bobby pins and style them in a Roman numeral pattern & make your hair stand out with a simple accessory.

The Halo Braid
Who said Halos were only for angels! Let your inner light shine with this gorgeous romantic hairstyle perfect for any occasion. Although it may look tricky to execute, this style can be done by anyone. Just think of it as a more advanced plait. Whether you're natural or a hair extension wearer, this hairstyle will look amazing on your big night. For hair extensions and wigs, use frontals to mimic a real scalp. To start, make sure hair is detangled by coming with your ultimate Tangle Teezer. Then section the area you would like to braid in three and take a pea sized amount of Eco Styler Castor Oil and Flaxseed gel and start braiding picking up extra hair as you go along. Continue the braid around your hairline until you reach your desired look. Then secure your braid with some ASC bobby pins. The look is almost complete, finish off with a quick spritz of the Got2B freeze blasting spray then you're good to go.

The Bun
Buns come in all shapes, sizes and colours. There's no wrong or right way to do a bun and the accidental buns are sometimes the cutest. Perfect a sleek bun by using Eco Styler Castor Oil and Flaxseed Gel and smooth it out with your Got2B freeze blasting spray. For a messy bun make sure the hair is moisturised so the hair can flow naturally. Use KeraCare Essential Oils to moisturise the hair without leaving it too greasy and seal in the moisture with KeraCare Silken Seal. However you like your buns, make sure that your hair is moisturised and sealed to keep it in place.
